Who is Mrs. Pleasant?

"Mrs. Pleasant" is actually, Emily Amarnick. Mrs. Pleasant was a nickname that her parents gave her as a baby and in some way has always stuck. Emily has been into vintage clothing and antiques for as long as she can remember. She's always been fascinated by the story each piece tells. She was born and raised in Philadelphia, and grew up surrounded by art and music; nurtured by her family, and propelled by her innate need to create. She now lives in Brooklyn, NY. She’s inspired by everything around her –she’s been studying art, fashion and most importantly, people - her entire life.

Along with finding one of kind vintage pieces, Emily has also been spending considerable time on her own original artwork. Her mix of abstract, found object, mixed media pieces each carry her indelible spirit. Any medium that catches her eye –collage, mixed media, etc.- is fair game and she creates small 5x7 greetings cards from handmade paper, wire, found objects, etc.; framed weavings from fabric, paper and yarn, abstract pieces on canvas – and even mosaics. Raw emotion is the constant throughout her work – the work forces her audiences to think, but doesn’t take itself overly seriously.

Whatever her future, the results are sure to be passionate, soulful and sincere. Her mission is to share her love of all things one of a kind and original, as well as make people feel wonderful in the process. "I want them to know their true selves, not who they think they're supposed to be, I want to give people the opportunity to experience the joy and inspiration I get from vintage clothing and antiques". Obviously this woman is leading by example.
