New York Fashion Week wrapped Friday after designers showed thousands of autumn looks at more than 100 runway shows.
Style editors, retail buyers and fashionista crowded tents in Bryant Park and venues around the city to see the latest creations.
Overall impressions ranged from “vintage vibe” and “architectural” to “slim.”
Gray and gold popped up everywhere, as did tights and suits. Popular accent colors trended to teal and berry.
Fashion week moves from New York to Europe with shows in London this week, followed by Milan, Italy and Paris.
A few highlights from the New York shows:
Phillip Lim. Lean funnel shapes, in navy, gray, red, ivories or black.
Ralph Lauren: Slim silhouettes in wool, metallics, leather and fur. Gold, in lame evening wear and outerwear.
Anne Klein: Bold colors, corduroy, pink cashmere coat, leather pants.
Marc Jacobs: Long, lean clothes, some sequins, shirt dresses, vests, jumpsuits with overall palette of gray, navy, beige and winter-white.
Bill Blass: Designer Vollbracht gave nods to Blass, Halston and Norman Norell. Swing dresses in blue jersey and white chashmere, black sequin halter gown, ladylike suits.
Jovich Hawk: Sweet-sexy outfits, blacks accented in rose and leathers, halter dress with peach contrast.
Thakoon: Black and blue, together. Satin “sweathshirt” dress, lace, cobalt satin cocktail dress with black paillettes.
Nanette Lepore: Short presses, purple tights and Keds, peep-toe pumps and velvet pants.
Peter Som: Neons, navy wool peacoat, silk and cashmere tuxedo blouse with cigarette pants, shale and fuschia skirts, tank and dress.
Anna Sui: Bouncy and Playful hippie chic, kitschy prints, tassels, pewter parka.
Michael Kors: Wraparound caramel-colored cardigan, sweater dresses, accents of bright orange and electric blue.
Zac Posen: Dark colors, pencil skirts, fur and purple. Red-carpet worthy gowns.
Calvin Klein: Gray, gray, gray. Elegant, textures, skirt suits and dresses, delicate lace turtleneck with matching skirt.
Vera Wang: Russian influence, opulent and military, gray velvet fencing vest, chiffon overlay with straight skirt with chrome sequin details.
Badgley Mischka: Fitted, menswear fabric for feminine shapes, tweed jacket, jeweled halterneck smoke-gray gown and form-fitting bodice.
